The Power of People – 25th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall
Presented by the German Language and Culture Foundation and in collaboration with CMS HighSchools (Providence and South Meck) as well as UNC Charlotte-Department of Languages and Culture Studies, Deutsche Schule Charlotte, Gaston County High Schools (Forestview and Ashbrook) and Gastonia Sister Cities – Gotha.
We will host EXHIBITION & ACTIVITIES on the occasion of 25th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall.
We provide movies, photographs and authentic documentation including contemporary witness Mario Röllig, who will share memories of his time at a Stasi prison as declared enemy of the GDR. The fall of the Berlin Wall marked the end of East German State and brought the ultimate ‘Wind of Change’ to the communist states.

2:00 – 3:00 PM Lecture by Mario Röllig, prisoner of STASI as declared ‘Enemy of GDR’ (Auditorium)
3:00 – 5:00 PM Film ‘The Lives of Others’ (Auditorium) AND -in parallel-
- Showing of Wall Documentary in classrooms
- Exhibit in Atrium (photography, newspaper article, student projects)
- Presentation by and discussion with contemporary witnesses
5:30 PM Tearing down the Wall (built during the afternoon in the Atrium)
